UT interviews Auburn defensive coordinator
Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp interviewed with Texas coach Mack Brown for a similar position, sources close to the situation confirmed.
Muschamp met with other staff members while in Austin, and a decision is expected soon. Larry Mac Duff, the Longhorns' co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, resigned Wednesday.
Auburn ranked eighth nationally in total defense (298.3 yards per game) and fifth in scoring defense (16.7 points per game) this season.
Before taking over the Auburn defense in 2006, Muschamp worked for coach Nick Saban on staffs with the Miami Dolphins (2005) and LSU (2001-2004).
Muschamp was the defensive coordinator on LSU's 2003 national championship team.
