Running back headed for the pros
The Round Rock Dragons tried to make school history again in the state football playoffs. While they came up short, it was still one of the best seasons ever for running back Marcus Jackson.
He racked up 142 yards and a touchdown in the first half against state powerhouse Dallas Skyline.
"Marcus Jackson is spectacular. He's a great leader. You can look at the yards and see how much he's meant to our team," head coach Lanny Wilson said.
Marcus Jackson carried the load all season. He rushed for more then 2,000 yards this year, leading the Dragons the regional semi-finals for the second year in a row.
"Nobody thought we were going to go as far as we did and we proved everybody wrong and that's what I'm most proud of," Marcus Jackson said.
The Dragons nearly pulled off another shocking upset, leading Skyline late until losing 13-10.
It was still another great season with numbers that should make Marcus Jackson a hot commodity for college recruiters. He's looking at Division-I schools like TCU, Nebraska, UTEP and Texas A&M.
"Marcus is a great football player and we'll see him on TV someday," Wilson said.
Marcus Jackson carried the ball more than any other player in Central Texas year. He finished the season with 2,115 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns.
